A WEBRING, is a loose association of sites that voluntarily work together, by providing links between each other's sites, thus enabling surfers to move within these linked sites. This makes web travel simpler for people surfing sites of common interest, and allows sites to be closely associated and pass over their trade to other sites.

This webring is brought to you in conjunction with WebRing.Org,  who help run webrings for thousands of interest groups.

Backpacking in South Africa was created to provide a service to all those interested in the "backpacking" / "ecotraveller" market and to enable sites interested in working together to do so utilising this service.

The criteria are actually quite simple:

1. The site MUST be backpacking related one, i.e. relating to hostels, cybercafes, overlanders, safari operators, transport companies etc.
2. The site can only be submitted by the owner of the site and then only the "base" URL will be accepted. Although this may be reviewed on application, especially where site hosting is a possible problem
3. All sites must carry the webring powerbar, either in their index sections if they are frames based sites or on prominent pages, and this must be established prior to them being reviewed. The power bar will look like this :

The steps in registration are as follows:

1. Agree with the Terms of the webrings on the next Page
   
2. Fill out the form with your registration details, this is sent to a registration queue for a short period, while you add the required link code on your pages, and this must be reviewed.
   
3. Copy and paste the required code, which you can get from the above text box you into your pages.
   
   NB The email sent to you will give you YOUR USER ID , so CHANGE the X's in the above code to YOUR USER ID - PLEASE.
   THIS MUST be done before final acceptance. All sites are visually checked initially and thereafter this is done automatically
   
4. Once your site is accepted, you can maintain your setups if necessary and also help promote this service to the industry.
